By:Tara L. Kuther
Published on 2004-01-01 by Charles C Thomas Publisher

In Graduate Study in Psychology: Your Guide to Success author Tara Kuther takes the reader step-by-step through the graduate admissions process. She begins with posing the question of whether graduate school is right for everyone and the differences between pursuing a master's degree or a doctoral degree. The following chapters contain information regarding what graduate school is like, how to evaluate and choose the right graduate program for you, and what graduate schools are looking for in an applicant. Kuther also addresses how to improve an applicant's chances of getting selected for graduate school by improving credentials and obtaining research and applied experience during college. This book offers advice on how to seek financial aid to fund graduate education and a timetable for complying with admission application requirements. There are chapters that detail how to study for the Graduate Record Exam, how to write an admissions essay, how to prepare for interviews, and how to ask for letters of recommendation. Each chapter concludes with tips from graduate students about each challenge encountered. Graduate Study in Psychology closes with an appendix of resources and recommended readings and websites to help the reader at each stage of choosing, applying to, and succeeding in graduate school.

Book Improving Workplace Learning by Teaching Literature PDF Free

Improving Workplace Learning by Teaching Literature PDF
By:Christine Angela Eastman
Published on 2016-04-19 by Springer

This book investigates the integration of literary writing into work based or business writing. It proposes ways of how to help people with considerable work experience use literature to engage with the problems they face in their work. Many people like to read for pleasure, but their skills in reading could always be improved. This book makes an original contribution to the fields of education, work based learning and business by encouraging students to explore history, memoir, fiction, and non-fiction to model their own writing and widen their knowledge beyond the work place and their customary reading. Inside are onsite experiments with fiction and non-fiction prose that show how people in the workplace respond and grow from contact with significant literature and culture that relates broadly to their work. As a Coaching Master’s student observes: “I have not been a prolific reader. It has been a weakness and a gap. I have probably read more in the last year [during the project course] than I have read in the past twenty years. So that says something. My ability to attend to what in a book has weight or relevance has markedly improved. In the past I banked largely on my opinions because not being a prolific reader, I had to. It can be incredibly empowering to see that there are so many assets outside of my own mind. When something comes up now, I tend to weigh it. I am more specific about how I use words.”

Book The Epic Adventures of Lydia Bennet PDF Free

The Epic Adventures of Lydia Bennet PDF
By:Bernie Su,Kate Rorick,Rachel Kiley
Published on 2015-09-29 by Simon and Schuster

Based on the Emmy Award\u00ad-winning “genius” (The Guardian) web series, The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, this is a new novel starring Lizzie’s spunky sister Lydia as she navigates the joys and pitfalls of becoming an adult in the digital age. Before her older sister, Lizzie, started her wildly popular vlog, Lydia was just a normal twenty-year-old plotting the many ways she could get away with skipping her community college classes and finding the perfect fake ID. She may not have had much direction, but she loved her family and had plenty of fun. Then Lizzie’s vlog turned the Bennet sisters into Internet sensations, and Lydia basked in the attention as people watched, debated, tweeted, tumblr’d, and blogged about her life. But not all attention is good… After her ex-boyfriend, George Wickham took advantage of Lydia’s newfound web-fame, betrayed her trust, and destroyed her online reputation, she’s no longer a naïve, carefree girl. Now, Lydia must work to win back her family’s trust and respect and find her place in a far more judgmental world. Told in Lydia’s distinctive, eccentric, and endearing voice, The Epic Adventures of Lydia Bennet picks up right where The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet left off and “offers a fresh take on Pride and Prejudice without ruining it” (The Washington Post, on The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet). Featuring fresh twists, wonderful new characters, and scores of hilarious texts, doodles, and tweets, The Epic Adventures of Lydia Bennet takes you behind the webcam and into the lives of your favorite sisters in a way that’s sure to satisfy existing fans and delight new ones.

Published on 2015-10-16 by Xlibris Corporation

Mental health professionals are often more comfortable and trained to run individual and small group therapy but need training to handle larger groups. This book demonstrates how learning to run larger groups can not only be exciting but also highly therapeutic for all. Included are numerous testimonies from individuals who have benefited from these workshops and examples of individual growth and healing. Edward Lyons, LCSW, LLADC, LLS, Chief Clinical Offi cer and Executive Vice President of Integrity House, Inc. states, “I have seen countless numbers of our clients begin to heal from deep emotional wounds through participation in Dr. Coleman’s groups.” Pastor Gennie Holt, Newark, NJ, says, “ I have worked with Dr. Coleman for several years in many types of groups. I have witnessed people saved from addictions, anxieties, phobias, depression and other issues. I have even seen members of my congregation energized and transformed. I have witnessed people come away from his groups with greater faith, hope and courage.”

With contributions from: Eric Blyth, Ken Daniels, Julia Feast, Robert Lee, Nina Martin, Alexina McWhinnie, Derek Morgan, Clare Murray, Sharon Pettle, Claire Potter, Jim Richards and Francoise Shenfield The separation of procreation from conception has broadened notions of parenthood and created novel dilemmas. A woman may carry a foetus derived from gametes neither or only one of which came from her or her partner; or she may carry a foetus created using in vitro fertilisation (IVF) with the purpose of handing it to two other parents one, neither or both of whom may be genetically related to the prospective child. Parents may consist of single-sex couples, only one of them genetically related to the child; the prospective mother may be past her menopause; and genetic parenthood after death is now achievable. In a world increasingly reliant on medical science, how can the argument that equates traditional with natural and novel with unnatural/unethical be justified? Should there be legislation, which is notoriously slow to change, in a field driven by dazzling new possibilities at ever faster rate; particularly when restrictions differ from country to country, so that those who can afford it travel elsewhere for their treatment of choice? Whose rights are paramount - the adults hoping to build a family or the prospective child(ren)s future well being? On what basis can apparently competing rights be regulated or adjudicated and how and to what extent can these be enforced in practice?
