Solutions to Family and Student Problems PDF
By:Jas O. Blount
Published on 2004-05-01 by

The generic theme addresses the public's fascination with violent criminals by providing an insider's view of their warped psyches and brutal conduct. Unlike Stanley Kubrick's adaptation of Anthony Burgess' novel A Clockwork Orange which took place in a futuristic society in England, this story is focused in present day New York. It raises many thought provoking questions about exterminating evil in modern society and defines the parameters of what society will formally do to protect itself. It authorizes an experimental behavior control project on twenty-five of the most violent prisoners at Sing Sing Prison which is designed to eliminate their aggressive behavior with the implanting of a programmable microchip.(Similar devices are currently being used to monitor animal behavior.) A predominant parallel theme in the book is a love story about a nurse employed in the project and a paroled journalist trying desperately to regain his redemption through his commitment to AA. Violent prisoners often breed violent enemies. Several have old scores to settle with two of the most despised participants. As the mystery unfolds, against a background of love, betrayal, violence fear and rage, the reader will eventually discover the ingenious method employed to taste the sweetness of revenge.

A sick child's fate falls into the hands of a psychology intern. What he chooses to do secures her future. Manuel Flores, shattered by war, builds a shelter for Brigid, who has SCID (severe combined immunodeficiency ). This solution protects her, provides sanctuary for Manuel's restless spirit, and allows them both access to a natural setting. As Brigid grows, this nest starts feeling like a prison. She longs to get outside, beyond what she can see. Though it ultimately separates them, she pushes through cracks, then barriers, to open possibilities for Manuel. His mother, Elena, helps reunite them and, in turn, grows beyond her own boundaries of grief and aging. Although of different generations, each main character hatches. Each emerges into a wider sphere after struggling out of a tight shell. Exploring the theme of containment this novel reveals security's limits as three very different persons nurture each other through passages of growth, loss, commitment, parenting, discovery. From the sterile atmosphere of an urban hospital to mesas of the desert southwest, Brigid moves, by way of eastern woodlands, from cell to cosmos, from confinement to freedom, from cramped city to the vast expanse of starry night skies. Insightful, engaging, touching.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology PDF
By:Samael Aun Weor
Published on 2013-05-01 by Glorian Publishing

This book begins by asking the questions, |Who are we? Where do we come from? Where are we going? What are we living for? Why are we living?| The answers to these questions can be discovered if one knows where and how to look. No matter who we are, we feel fulfillment, happiness, and purpose inside of ourselves. These qualities are not felt outside of ourselves, and cannot be found in external things or circumstances. Similarly, knowledge of ourselves and our purpose cannot be found in external things, but are found inside. By knowing what is in our hearts and minds, by seeing what we usually ignore, we learn not only what we are capable of, but also what prevents us from developing our full potential. By knowing ourselves, we acquire the knowledge of how to change for the better. As we improve ourselves and awaken to our true nature, we spontaneously begin to radiate the light of divinity in everything we do, increasing our own happiness, and spreading it to others. This is how we begin to live the Gnostic message, which states that the light of the Divine is within us. By knowing ourselves, we also learn about that light, and can bring it into the world to benefit everyone. |All things, all circumstances that occur outside ourselves on the stage of this world, are exclusively the reflection of what we carry within. With good reason then, we can solemnly declare that the 'exterior is the reflection of the interior.' When someone changes internally-and if that change is radical-then circumstances, life, and the external also change.| - Samael Aun Weor This book reflects and illuminates the spiritual psychology of all genuine religions and mystical traditions. With the practical guidance in this book, anyone can awaken to see the light for the Divine for themselves.

Book Mismatch PDF Free

Mismatch PDF
By:Ronald Giphart,Mark van Vugt
Published on 2018-02-15 by Hachette UK

Our brains evolved to solve the survival problems of our Stone Age ancestors, so when faced with modern day situations that are less extreme, they often encounter a mismatch. Our primitive brains put us on the wrong foot by responding to stimuli that - in prehistoric times - would have prompted behaviour that was beneficial. If you've ever felt an anxious fight or flight response to a presenting at a board meeting, equivalent to facing imminent death by sabre-toothed tiger, then you have experienced a mismatch. Mismatch is about the clash between our biology and our culture. It is about the dramatic contrast between the first few million years of human history - when humans lived as hunters and gatherers in small-scale societies - and the past twelve thousand years following the agricultural revolution which have led us to comfortable lives in a very different social structure. Has this rapid transition been good for us? How do we, using our primitive minds, try to survive in a modern information society that radically changes every ten years or so? Ronald Giphart and Mark van Vugt show that humans have changed their environment so drastically that the chances for mismatch have significantly increased, and these conflicts can have profound consequences. Reviewed through mismatch glasses, social, societal, and technological trends can be better understood, ranging from the popularity of Facebook and internet porn, to the desire for cosmetic surgery, to our attitudes towards refugees. Mismatches can also affect our physical and psychological well-being, in terms of our attitudes to happiness, physical exercise, choosing good leaders, or finding ways to feel better at home or work. Finally, Mismatch gives us an insight into politics and policy which could enable governments, institutions and businesses to create an environment better suited to human nature, its potential and its constraints. This book is about converting mismatches into matches. The better your life is matched to how your mind operates, the greater your chances of leading a happy, healthy and productive life.

Boy Crazy PDF
By:Janet Sayers
Published on 1998 by Psychology Press

In answering these questions, Janet Sayers highlights the revolution wrought in both sexes' psychology by adolescence, particularly by its fantasies of divided selves and loves and of 'boy crazy' grandiosity and romance. Illustrated throughout with fascinating examples from a groundbreaking study of adolescent memories and dreams, Boy Crazy presents an engaging account of this little-researched period of human development. Sayers also draws on her own work as a therapist, and weaves in vignettes from fiction and film, to demonstrate the significance we attach in adulthood to our experiences as adolescents. She suggests that men and women respond differently to the sexual awakening that takes place during their teens, and to their own memories of that part of their life. In relating the findings of her research the author also explores to what extent the theories of Freud, Jung and feminism shape our understanding of the formative effect of adolescent experiences and emotions. Boy Crazy provides a fascinating insight into the repercussions of adolescence on our adult lives and loves and will appeal to the general and specialist reader alike.
